Problem
Scripts were often shouted for around the office, and people were using company data with AI tools to get answers — a data security concern. Less-experienced team members had no reliable internal reference.
Background
The trigger wasn't a single incident — it was the same request landing differently every time: someone shouting a script across the office, or quietly pasting company data into an AI tool to get an answer instead. Once that pattern was visible, a one-off answer stopped being the fix; a permanent, self-hosted reference was.
Implementation
Built and self-hosted a hand-coded HTML reference site covering 12 categories from PowerShell fundamentals to mailbox management. Features a search function, sticky sidebar navigation, and Microsoft Docs integration buttons.
Challenges
The site needed to be genuinely useful — not a dump of commands. Each entry was written with clear context about when and why to use the command.
Results
Readily available for the team. Eliminated the pattern of people using company data with external AI tools. Maintained weekly based on team feedback.
